If you have been following basketball lately, you have probably heard of Linsanity.
What is #Linsanity? A viral meme that spurred across the internet based on Jeremy Lin, point guard for the New York Knicks and one of the hottest players in the NBA this season. Lin is one of the few Asian American basketball players currently in the NBA and has taken fans by storm by helping lead the New York Knicks in a recent winning streak.
Given the recent excitement with Lin, it’s no wonder that his Klout score has skyrocketed. We looked at key wins for the New York Knicks this season. Lin has been instrumental in each victory and the rise in online buzz correlates with an increase in his Klout score. We also looked at the use of the hashtag #Linsanity and see three clear spikes where Lin was one of the top scorers of each game:
2/10/2012: Vs. Los Angeles Lakers, Lin scores 38 points, 7 assists.
2/14/2012: Vs. Toronto Raptors, Lin scores winning 3-point shot with 0.5 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Lin scores 27 points, 11 assists.
2/19/2012: Vs. Dallas Mavericks, Lin scores 28 points, 14 assists, 5 steals.
